Empire Farms started because the shelf was full of products that tested well and tasted like nothing. We set out to fix the second half.
The Empire Farms story
Empire Farms was built in Houston by people who were tired of the same trade-off. Every shelf carried products with impressive numbers on the label and nothing behind them — extracts that hit hard and tasted like solvent, flower that looked incredible in a jar and smelled like hay by the time it got home.
The problem was never the plant. It was what happened after harvest. Terpenes — the compounds carrying every bit of a strain's aroma and much of its character — are volatile. They start leaving the moment the flower warms up, and conventional processing is a long sequence of opportunities for them to escape.
So we built the process backwards from that constraint. Flower goes into deep freeze within hours of harvest. Extraction runs cryogenic. Curing happens at −80°C rather than at room temperature. Every stage is designed around keeping cold, because cold is what keeps aroma.
The result is not always the biggest number on the shelf, and we've made peace with that. What it is, reliably, is the jar people open twice before they buy — once out of curiosity, once to check they weren't imagining it.
